The Freeland YMCA will host the B and R Summer Basketball League for boys and girls. There will be separate divisions for boys and girls. Games will be played Wednesday and Thursday Nights at the Freeland Public Park. The cost is $30.00 per player (which includes a T-Shirt) and $2.00 per game for officials. The league will begin Wed July 10. The divisions are as follows; boys and girls entering 6th-7th grades, boys and girls entering 8th and 9th grade, and boys and girls entering 10th-12th. The Freeland YMCA will offer a Summer Day Camp. The camp will run daily from 10 to 1. The cost is $8.00 per day or $35.00 for the week which includes lunch. There will be two groups Adventurer Camp 5-8 years of age or Explorer Camp 9-12 years of age. The camp will run June 24 – Aug 2 and will feature field trips, sports activities, arts and crafts, park play time and much more. All campers must preregister there needs to be 20 children registered in each division to have the camp. The registration deadline is Friday June 21. The Freeland YMCA High School League Champs
The Freeland YMCA Basketball Camps- will host basketball camps in July and August. The cost is $40.00 per camper and each camper will receive a YMCA duffle bag. The camps will run from 1:00 -3:30 daily. The dates and the divisions will be as follows: Boys entering 2nd-4th Grade July 8-12; Boys entering 5th and 6th grades- July 15-19; boys entering 7th -9th grades July 22-26; Girls entering 4th-9th grades July 29 – Aug 2. Red and White Boys Basketball – will be held Aug 5-9th at MMI Gymnasium. The camp will cost $55.00 per camper and will run daily 10:00-1:00 and all campers will receive a free gift. The camp will be under the direction of MMI Basketball coach Joe Flanagan and his staff. The camp is open to boys entering 2nd-9th grades. The games will be played Tuesday evenings at the outdoor courts at the Freeland Public Park. The league will cost $225.00 plus $25.00 per game referee fee. The Freeland YMCA will be hosting a 5K run/walk on Saturday November 10th. It will be held on a new course (wheel-measured excluding Yale Street) through Freeland. The race will start and end at the Freeland YMCA (600 Front Street Freeland, PA). The 5K run/walk will start at 9:30 a.m. The proceeds from this event will benefit youth activities at the YMCA. The cost for pre-registration for this event is $15 (before October 30th) and should be mailed to the Freeland YMCA Run for the Kids, PO Box 6, Freeland, Pa 18224. The cost for registration the day of the event is $18.
In addition to the 5k run/walk, there will be a 1/2 mile children’s run for all children 12 and under. The 1/2 mile run will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. just before the 5k run. The entry fee is $3. All children will be entered in a drawing for three gift card prizes. All participants will receive a medal.
Awards will be given to the overall top male and female. Also, the top 3 males and top 3 females in each of the following age groups will receive medals.
Finally, the top three walkers (male or female) will receive medals
